OUR MISSION
HELPING OTHERS
-
Christmas Program - We assist local families in need by providing clothing, toys, gift cards, and canned goods. Donations for this program are accepted.
-
Scholarships - We award sixteen $500 scholarships to local students pursuing post-secondary education. The scholarships are funded by the Legion, Sons of the American Legion, and Auxiliary.
-
Hoosier Boys State - We sponsor South Ripley students entering their senior year to participate in this week-long program. Participants learn real-world skills and leadership by creating a functional state government based on Indiana's political process.
-
Memorial Day Events - Place flags on every veteran's grave at Cliff Hill Cemetery. Additionally, a parade will be held from the Legion Post to Cliff Hill Cemetery, where a service will be conducted. Then they head to the Ripley County Veterans Memorial, where another short ceremony is held. Before heading to the Legion Park for a meal. On Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, they visit 16 local cemeteries and do a service.
-
Loan Program - We loan wheelchairs, canes, crutches, toilet seats, and other equipment to people in need. For more information, contact the Legion Post or any Legion member.
-
Military Graveside Services - We are proud to provide graveside services for any military veteran upon request.
